If you're a high school senior in Virginia, hailing from an underprivileged community, and pursuing a psychology major at a Virginia university, this $500 scholarship is designed especially for you. We believe in the transformative power of education, and we're committed to supporting your journey towards making a difference in the world of mental health.

We understand that small acts of kindness and volunteerism have the potential to ignite substantial change. Today's students, and indeed all young individuals, hold the key to shaping our world's future. By actively engaging with their communities through volunteering, students can help create a more compassionate and caring society. It's about turning your passion into action and working towards the causes you hold dear.

How to Apply:

To be considered for this scholarship, we invite you to reflect on your volunteer experiences with a specific organization. You have the option to either write an essay or create a video that captures the essence of your volunteer journey. We're looking for your genuine commitment to mental health and your community.

Scholarship Requirements:

Residence
Applicants must be high school seniors residing in Virginia and currently from financially underprivileged backgrounds.
Please submit current documentation to verify both:

Proof of current residence in Virginia. Some qualifying examples include:
– Current Virginia driver’s license or state ID. Must show your current Virginia address.
– Current utility bill (e.g., electric, water, gas, internet) Dated within the last 30–60 days and showing your parent or guardian name and Virginia address.
– Current lease agreement or mortgage statement. Must include your name, Virginia address, and be currently active.
Proof of current financial need: Some qualifying examples include:
– Current eligibility for free or reduced lunch
– Current participation in government assistance programs (e.g., SNAP, WIC)
– Current household income below the federal poverty line
Note: A parent or gaurdian must also be available for a brief verification meeting with Mr. Baig. Emancipated individuals may also be considered.

Intended Major
You must major in Psychology at a Virginia university.
Please include documentation to verify your intent, such as:
– A current college acceptance letter indicating your major
– A current written statement of intent
Note: A university official must also be available for a brief verification meeting with Mr. Baig.

GPA Requirement
A minimum current GPA of 2.5 is required.
Please submit:
– Your current official high school transcript. You must graduate from a high school in Virginia.
– A current letter of recommendation from a school official outlining their support and advocacy for your consideration for this scholarship.
Note: A school official must also be available for a brief verification meeting with Mr. Baig.

Volunteer Experience
You must demonstrate a commitment to volunteerism in mental health.
Please submit:
– Current documentation of your volunteer service in mental health. Examples include but not limited to (e.g. school’s mental health awareness club, peer mentor of classmates who were experiencing mental health issues, assistance at a non-profit that provides mental health education)
– A letter of recommendation from a current representative at the organization outlining their support and advocacy for your consideration for this scholarship.
Note: A volunteer representative must also be available for a brief verification meeting with Mr. Baig.

Application Deadline: June 30, 2025

Before sending your materials, please make sure you’ve received approval from the individuals listed above to attend verification meetings with Mr. Baig. To keep things fair, we’re only able to consider complete applications.
